Working in bronze, jd Hansen's sculptural works are informed by both human and animal form. On a visceral level, Hansen explores the juxtaposition of vulnerability and strength. The elongated figures & subtle body language presented in each work also surveys the dynamic complexities of human psychology, non-verbal communication and theories of quantum physics.
Many of Hansen’s paintings are inspired by her love of unique atmospheric light in different parts of the world. The multiple layers of colors on the canvas combine to form luminous grays and silvers, or bold flashes of red and blue. The text she incorporates is present in different forms on each layer, some hidden, some bold, representing subconscious and conscious thoughts that mesh together to create a new whole.
